Saere were originally discovered by Wulves on their neighboring island, and the species has steadily branched out across the world.
Biology
Physical Description
Saere measure about 1 1/2 feet (.4 meters) at the shoulder. They're cat-like in appearance, with four legs with retractable claws. In place of a nose, they have two antenna sticking out from the middle of their forehead. Their eyes appear to have a gradient to them rather than distinct parts, with the individual eye cells opening and closing depending on where they're focusing. They have a pair of butterfly wings on their back. Their abdomen takes the appearance of a long pudgy tail. They're covered in insect-like plates. Finally they have a small pair of pointy cat-like ears on the top of their head.
Their mouth structure is notable, as they only have the front teeth of a cat up to the canines. In place of molars and premolars, they have pincers tucked down into their throat. These pincers are highly mobile and able to extent out the sides of the mouth. They chew by holding food in place with their teeth and chopping off pieces and 'chewing' with the pincers. Their tongues are two long tendrils that extend along with the pincers.
Diet
Saere are primarily insectivores, occasionally eating other kinds of meat.
Reproduction
Saere typically mate during Nelith and lay between five to eight eggs during early Itia. Afterwards, the eggs only need a short incubation period, having spent most of their development period inside their parent's body. They hatch by mid-Itia, born almost fully functional, able to walk, run, play, and sometimes they even have some limited speech due to hearing it while in the egg, though it's mostly just baby-babble. By early-Tieon, they've begun speaking in full sentences, though they'll shift to spending most of their time from learning to eating, spending the rest of Tieon eating as much as possible along with the rest of their kin.
Lifecycle
After spending all of Harth and Alavora hibernating, those that survive will wake mid-Nelith and continue their mental development, now being about half the size of a full grown Saere and largely independant, now moving on from following their parents around to following around most adult Saere and mimicking their behavior, learning from them. By the time of their second Tieon, they're full grown and ready to lay eggs of their own next year.
Saere live up to 40 years before they start to slow down, eventually passing around 60 years old.
Activity Level
Saere are active from Nelith through Tieon, hibernating through Harth and Alavora. They spend most of Tieon eating in order to bulk up for the colder seasons.

Saere are playful, friendly, and open-minded.
Sociability
Saere need the company of at least one other Saere, but tend to prefer more. They often group together with Koluur due to their shared need for company and similar behaviors and appearances.
Sapience
They are often leaders in social efforts, taking up roles as ambassadors, counsilers, and social scientists, alongside Koluur.
