Rupiz
Overview
Rupiz are a kangaroo-like species known for technological progress.
Classification
Mammalian
Rarity
Uncommon
History
Rupiz originate from the same island as plainsrunner Yvet, and co-existed peacefully with them. They still remain largely in the general region of their home island, only really gathering elsewhere if the habitat is similar. Rupiz are leaders in tool creation and use, and were the first to begin metalsmithing.
Biology
Physical Description
Rupiz are centaur shaped, having 4 legs and 2 arms. The forelegs are somewhat between arms and legs, allowing them some fine manipulation with their forepaws. They have 4 fingers and a thumb on their hands, and a long, thick tail that allows them to stand up on their back legs for short periods of time. They stand at about 10 feet (3 meters) tall when standing on their back legs.
Diet
Consumate herbivores, primarily eating grasses, fruits, and bugs.
Reproduction
Rupiz breed in late Harth, and then have up to 3 kits in mid Esorian. The kits gradually grow through their first year, learning to walk and talk by late Itia. From there, it takes them 5 years to reach adulthood.
Lifecycle
Rupiz live up to 90 years, slowing down gradually starting at 60.
Activity Level
Rupiz spend Alavora and Nelith hibernating invariably, but younglings and adults not interested in kits will begin hibernating in Harth, while breeding adults will spend Harth awake for as long as they can. The later they can stay awake before settling down, it's believed the longer a life the kits will have.
Behavior
Temperament
Rupiz are analytical, calm, and rational.
Sociability
Rupiz do well both alone and in groups. Their social groups traditionally consists of a pair of parents and their children, occasionally the adult offspring will stick around to help raise their younger siblings.
Sapience
Rupiz are the forerunners in technological progress, being the first to invent metalsmithing, and standardized magic gems appearances and uses.
