Leoprin

Overview

Leoprin are guardians of the world, dedicated to protecting and enforcing the natural order in the world.

Classification

Divine (cursed)

Rarity

Limited (less than a few thousand in existence)

History

Leoprin were originally created by the gods to be keepers of their order in the world. After the war between the gods, they were cursed by the destructive gods, altering their purpose in life. Now instead of communing directly with the gods and enforcing their will, they now have to decide for themselves what 'natural order' means. Thankfully, they maintained their telepathic communication with one another, allowing for swift group judgements of individual situations- so long as the individual is willing to comply with the group.

Biology

Physical Description

Leoprin are quadrupedal, with large claws on each three-toed paw. Their skull is completely exposed, with no skin or flesh of any kind, rendering them expressionless. Their rib bones are also completely exposed, along with their chest cavity that simply shows a dark void with a glow inside of it. They're otherwise covered in scruffy, matted looking fur across their entire body.

Diet

Leoprin have no need for food and thus rarely partake. When they do, they're able to eat almost anything, even rocks and other otherwise inedible materials.

Reproduction

Leoprin do not reproduce in a traditional sense, instead relying on a reincarnation cycle of sorts. When a Leoprin dies, they leave behind an energy orb that transforms the first sapient creature that touches it into that Leoprin, thus creating a continous existence for that one Leoprin, though they also absorb the memories and can have some carry-over feelings from their previous existences.

Lifecycle

Leoprin start out nearly identical in personality to the original creature that they transformed from, but their personality will steadily shift into that of the original Leoprin's personality until there's nearly no trace of the original creature left. Being creatures of order, Leoprin naturally dislike disrupting the natural lives of other creatures when possible. This in part lead to the development of the temples to the Leoprin, where volunteers will be on standby to become Leoprin when one is nearing the end of their life.

Leoprin live a few hundred years, depending on the individual Leoprin.

Activity Level

Leoprin are active all year round.

Behavior

Temperament

Leoprin tend to be not terribly socialable, prefering to stick to their themselves and their work. They take their jobs as active observers and enforcers seriously, and rarely stray from it.

Sociability

They socialize enough to get what they need, and prefer to talk to inform sapient species when they're being disruptive to the natural order, but will get agressive when they feel there's no options left.

Sapience

Leoprin are not the sort to craft new technologies, but will utilize them if it helps their work. They do not consider civilization as a whole to be a threat to the natural order, and so leave the various cities and kingdoms in peace.
