Dori
The owner of The Palace of Alcazarzaray and a merchant of high regard, "Lord Sangemah Bay" is well known for her ability to obtain anything a person needs, as long as they have enough Mora to afford her jaw-dropping prices.
Dragon Companion: Lora
Dori couldn't help marveling at the immense Weyr and all it's dragons. And all being given out for free! Well, free-ish. Getting through Sumeru's background checks had been one thing, the dragonrider's tests had been another. Testing her purity of heart, her aptitude for communicating with the dragons, and all sorts of other tasks was no small ask, but well worth the trouble. Now she had one test left before getting her very own dragon!
The Weyrmaster lead her into a giant room practically filled to the top with eggs. "Your final test", he announced, drawing her attention away from the clutches, "is to find an egg here that resonates with you. If you fail this step, you will not receive a dragon."

"WHAT!" she yelled out, unable to believe him. "So you're saying I might've done all those tests for NOTHING?!" He just shrugged in response. "The dragon chooses their partner, not the other way around. The dragon who hatches will be yours and will grow with you. Dragons are wild creatures, but fiercely loyal- this is how it has to be done."
She sighed loudly, realizing there was no way around it. She set to work, wandering aimlessly through every corner of the room, stopping to rub or tap on eggs in hopes one would hatch for her. She was beginning to feel more and more disheartened, until she realized she'd be going in a single direction for a while. She attempted to turn a different way, but it felt.. wrong. Like she was making a mistake. Curiously, and more than a little unnerved, she turned back the path she'd been taking and continued down it, eventually making her way to a clutch of giant eggs. Each one was more than half her height!
She oggled at the eggs for a moment, slowly walking around them- until she arrives at a magenta one with some darker and lighter magenta colors across it. She reached out and gently rested her hand on it, and it shuddered. She backed off just in time for the egg to shatter into pieces, leaving a very drowsy looking little Whiptail looking at her. "Hello", came a voice, clear as day in her mind, "I'm Lora." The little dragon looked at her expectantly. "Uh, uhm, I'm Dori." Dori said. Lora grinned at her, and hopped off the clutch table to rub against her, already almost eye level with Dori.
Just as Dori was beginning to process that she did, in fact, pass the final test and now had a dragon of her own, the Weyrmaster walked up to them. "Congratulations!" he said, beaming, "You are now an official dragonrider!"
Dragon Stats:
Name: Lora
Gender: Female
Size: 31'4" long, 7'11" at the shoulder
Species: Whiptail Dragon
Parentage: Progenitor
Abilities: heavy lifting and short, sustained flight
Personality: Lora is a bit lazy, preferring to just go with the flow and do as she wants. She still plays the role of 'big scary dragon' whenever Dori needs her to, and is willing to back up that idea too, but she prefers to just lay in the sun and enjoy life.
Dori was slightly disappointed when she learned about the Whiptail breed. She'd been hoping for something fiercer, like one of the ones that could spit acids or cut trees with their wings! But, you just gotta take what you get, and all things considered, she didn't get a bad deal. Lora is as tame as a sumpter beast but can haul twice the amount, and she's a behemoth of a dragon too- towering over everything at 7 ft 5 inches at the shoulder even as a young adult. Plus she can fly! The only downside is she can't fit easily in most of Sumeru City, even with the renovations.
